What's the best possible way to end a day of skiing down or hiking around the slopes of Mt Hood? Our vote is relaxing on the forest green velvet Lowe sectional at the Hood Hideaway Cabin in Rhododendron, Oregon. Over the past year, Perch's clients, Cat and Wes, thoughtfully modernized their 1979 vacation rental with homey details that make it the perfect escape to the woods from the city.
Located just over an hour from Portland, the 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin feels light years away from busy city life. The living room invites guests to put a record on the turn table and settle into the extra plush couch with a coffee table book and a glass of wine (there's even a little wood arm rest for your glass!).
The open format first floor features a living room designed for lounging, a huge dining table for gathering, and a well-stocked kitchen that makes cooking away from home easy. The house was designed with comfort for guests in mind. You'll find baskets with cozy throw blankets to cuddle up with, sheep skin to sink your feet into, a polaroid for adding a a snap to the guestbook, and playful art.
Mt Hood an all the activities that it offers are just minutes away, but you might have a hard time prying your group away from the cabin and all its charms.
Upstairs, three bedrooms offer plenty of space to house a family or a group of friends. Our favorite bedroom includes a rattan daybed that can double as reading lounge for grownups or kid's bed. Bright, modern light fixtures infuse the cabin with warm light, even on the darkest winter days.
Each bedroom has high quality linens, lots of pillows to choose from and extra blankets to stay warm on chilly mountain nights.
The bathrooms have all the little details that matter, candles, delightful smelling hand soap and soft towels.
If you want to try living on a Perch sofa for a weekend, we can't think of a better place the Hood Hideaway, which you can book on airbnb.
