Walking into the Pearl District boutique, Porch Light, feels like like stumbling upon a modern, light-filled, impeccably decorated farmhouse. This delightful little shop manages to capture the essence of what a glowing porch light represents: coziness, warmth, and light.
Porch Light is stocked with a mix of antiques unearthed at tag sales, flea markets and auctions in the Midwest. Once the vintage tables and hutches find their way back to Portland, the folks at Porch Light fill them with a carefully edited cast of home goods, apothecary items, jewelry and candles.
The shop's vintage aesthetic clearly has a modern thread running through it. Succulents fill artfully rusted tool boxes and edgy jewelry sits beneath the wavy glass of antique display cases.
Porch Light is our favorite place to go when we want to treat ourselves to a nice candle or a new soap--but its also the perfect shop to hunt for unusual gifts. On a recent visit we spotted super cute green enameled trays, cozy striped throws, and stylish canvas shopping bags--all priced in the perfect range for a holiday hostess gift or birthday surprise for a friend.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, Porch Light (along with Perch) is participating in Little Boxes--a Portland-wide holiday shopping event celebrating our city's vibrant small business community. We stopped by to chat with Porch Light and find out what they are looking forward to this holiday season.

What do you think the biggest home goods trend will be in 2018?
Big, leafy houseplants seem to be popping up a lot lately, and we always have plenty in stock to give inspiration! Natural apothecary & skincare products (such as brands we feature, Herbivore and Ursa Major) are also making a big impact headed into 2018!
What is your favorite Little Box to shop at?
It's impossible to choose a favorite with so many amazing local small businesses around us in the Pearl! We love our neighbors, and they're all our favorites.

What is your favorite holiday song?
We can't get past the classics here! We usually have a lot of Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong on rotation around the holidays.
