Tami and Keith moved into their modern Pearl District condo just last year, but it feels so comfortable and homey, you’d think they’ve lived in the space much longer. Much of this warm feeling comes from the furnishings that Tami has chosen- the living room has a Perch Lawson sectional in an inviting mocha color paired with Asher armchairs in a soft, peachy hue.
The natural palette extends through the entire main floor with custom built-ins by Big Branch Woodworking, bespoke entry and dining tables crafted by Stumptown Reclaimed Wood, and rugs in warm colors from Pier One.
The couple splits their time between Portland where they both grew up, and Michigan, where they raised their three children and still keep “a traditional home.” Now that Tami’s dad is getting older, she wanted to spend more time in Portland where he still lives.
The couple love living in the Pearl District and the experience of residing in an urban setting. Tami discovered Perch while strolling through her new neighborhood. “When I first passed by Perch, I thought this is going to be expensive, there’s no way. I was so excited when we realized what the price points were and went “We can do this!” Ultimately, nearly all the seating in the condo was sourced from Perch.
Describe your home in three words.
“Comfy, bright and peaceful.”
When I'm on my sofa, I'm usually _____.
“If I’m by myself, I’m watching TV or on my laptop, but if I’ve got people here I’m usually hanging out drinking wine! I’m drinking wine when I’m by myself, too. Wine is always involved!”
What's the element of your home that you love most?
“It’s open and bright- largely due to the windows. That’s really what made this space unique to us.”
How have you incorporated your favorite color into your space?
“Greens, oranges and warm tones- I’ve popped them in with pillows, rugs, accents and art.”
What is next on your home's wish list?
“New kitchen light fixtures will be my next big project!”
Why did you choose Perch?
“We went with Perch because of the convenience, quality, price and that everything is customizable. And also they’re just the friendliest place in town- Audrey is completely fun to work with.”
The entry of Tami and Keith’s Pearl District condo features a custom table made by Stumptown Reclaimed Wood.
The Reading Nook with its custom Bel Air chaise from Perch is one of Tami’s favorite spots in the house, “It’s pretty narrow, but it’s perfect for sitting and reading, and it’s just perfect for the space. I got to specify the dimensions, and I had so much fun playing with the color and getting this pop of green over here. I have so much orange and brown, but I love that pop of green!”
The couple knew that they wanted to use the spot in front of the Juliet balcony for their dining area. Tami had Stumptown Reclaimed Wood build a table to fit the very specific dimensions of the space.
Custom wine racks made by Big Branch Woodworking and a one arm chaise lounge that Tami designed from Perch fill out the area under the stairs that the couple fondly refer to as the “Reading Nook.”
A pair of custom Asher rocking armchairs from Perch are favorite places to sit and take in the city views in the living room.
The chaise on the Perch Lawson sectional is a coveted place to relax, “I love that chaise. It’s right by the window- that’s my spot! But I’m in competition with my husband, because if he’s here, he sits there on his laptop and does work there,” says Tami.
A bird’s eye view of the living and dining room from the modern staircase. A piece over the fireplace by local painter Oto Jenkins is one of Tami’s favorite elements of the room. “I wanted to use a lot of Oregon artists,” Tami says of decorating the condo.
Tami and Keith’s open loft bedroom is on the second floor of the condo. Tami selected the Taylor sofa (and added a sleeper bed) and a custom slipper chair from Perch to create a comfortable sitting area in the bedroom.
A favorite spot to relax and read is on the oversized Taylor armchair that Tami chose for the bedroom seating area. She swapped out the chair's standard wood base for turned legs to match the slipper chair.
Thank you Tami and Keith for sharing your home with us!
